A work placement

In October, a group of students from Berufsschule Fürstenfeldbruck took part in a three-week ERASMUS+ program in Malta. The trip was a great chance to improve our English, gain work experience, and learn about the culture of this beautiful Mediterranean island.

Before the trip, our school gave us all the important information we needed, like details about documents, travel plans, and health tips. We also had meetings to get to know each other, which made us feel more comfortable before leaving. When we arrived in Malta, we all reacted differently. Some of us loved the freedom and independence, while others missed home. But in the end, we all learned a lot from the experience.

Living in an English-speaking country was a challenge, but it helped us improve quickly. We had to speak English every day, and that made us more confident. We also had English lessons at a language school. The teachers made the lessons interesting and adapted them to our levels, so everyone could follow and learn.

During the week, we worked in internships at local companies related to our fields of study. It was exciting to use what we had learned in school and see how things are done in Malta. Working with local people showed us new ways of doing things and gave us valuable experience.

On the weekends, we explored Malta. Valletta, the capital city, was amazing with its narrow streets and beautiful old buildings. At night, the city was magical, and walking through the lit-up streets was unforgettable. We also visited nature spots like the Dingli Cliffs, where we enjoyed incredible views of the sea. One of the best moments was swimming in the warm sea at night.

We also spent a day on Gozo, a smaller island near Malta. Gozo was quieter and very beautiful. We visited the Citadel, walked through small villages, and relaxed on the beaches. It was the perfect place to take a break and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.

Another highlight was trying Maltese food. We tasted dishes like rabbit stew and pastizzi, which were delicious and very different from what we usually eat. It was fun to try new things and learn more about the local culture.

The three weeks in Malta were a mix of learning, working, and exploring. We improved our English, gained practical experience, and discovered a new culture. This trip was an amazing experience that we will always remember.
